## What the chart shows

In Pew Research Center surveys in 2024, AI experts were more positive than US adults about AI’s impact over the next 20 years in all 10 areas asked about. The widest gap is on how people do their jobs: 73% of experts expect a positive impact against 23% of adults, followed by the economy (69% vs 21%) and medical care (84% vs 44%).

Both groups are least positive about areas tied to trust and social life. Only 11% of experts and 9% of adults expect AI to improve elections, and 18% and 10% the news people get. Medical care is the area both groups are most positive about.
