How to read it

  • 2024–25 counts are reported by departments in the CRA Taulbee Survey; 2025–26 and 2026–27 are the CRA’s projections. The data has fractional values, which we round in the text.
  • Because the CRA changed its methodology, these counts are not comparable with faculty numbers in earlier editions of the AI Index.
  • Covers responding computer science, computer engineering and information departments in the US and Canada.
