Where the numbers come from

All sources →
The 316 charts come from the Stanford AI Index Report 2026 and the 80 organisations, surveys and leaderboards behind it. The number is how many charts use each source.
This directory brings together 316 charts based on Stanford's AI Index Report 2026 and the partner data it draws on, from McKinsey and Ipsos to Pew Research and the OECD. Each chart states one finding, with its source and data file. The charts are grouped into 13 topic pages under four themes. AI Progress covers benchmarks, models and research. Infrastructure & Industry covers chips and data centres, investment, adoption, and robots and self-driving cars. Work & Society covers jobs, education, healthcare and public opinion. Governance & Responsibility covers regulation, ethics and safety.
Most series run to 2025, some stop earlier, and survey coverage varies by country. Each topic page explains what its charts measure and where the gaps are.
Every chart on AI Adoption cites its source, links to its data as a CSV and was checked against that data before it was published. Editorial standards · Data sources
