Organisations based in the United States released 64 notable AI models in 2025, according to Epoch AI’s database. China followed with 35 and South Korea with 8. The United Kingdom, Canada, France, Hong Kong and Singapore had one each.

Epoch counts 107 notable models for 2025 in total. A model built by organisations in more than one country counts once for each country, so the country figures add up to more than 107.

2026 is running at a similar pace: by 30 September Epoch had logged 49 notable models from the US and 29 from China.
