Test AI on your own work

Let a coin flip decide which of your next 10 tasks use AI, and see whether it really helped.
People often misjudge how much AI helps them. In one trial, experienced developers were slower with AI while believing it sped them up. Nothing you enter leaves your browser.

How it works

  1. Pick one kind of task that you do often, with tasks of similar size.
  2. Choose how you'll score the result before you start, and don't change it. A score from 1 to 5 is fine, ideally given by someone who doesn't know which tasks used AI.
  3. Before each task, flip the coin here. Follow it even when you'd rather not: choosing for yourself would spoil the comparison.
  4. Time the whole task, including checking and fixing. Checking time is the cost people most often leave out.
  5. Do this at least 10 times.

Built on the measurement ladder in our AI rollout kit and method. This helps you measure your own work; it is not a study, and we collect nothing from it. The result sentence uses a simple rule: a gap counts as clear only if it is more than about twice its likely error. With 10 tasks, that is a rough guide at most. Spotted an error? Tell us.
