Newest first. Each verified entry counts once; claimed entries are shown and labelled but not counted.
What counts
An item counts when an AI developer's own deprecation page, release notes or migration guide states that a general-purpose language model (chat, reasoning, coding or multimodal text model) is switched off, or was switched off, in its API or its own chatbot on a stated date, from 2024 to dates already set. One item per named model version: dated snapshots and aliases of the same model are grouped and counted on the day the last one goes, and point versions of one model retired the same day in the same notice are grouped. A retirement in a consumer app (such as ChatGPT) and one in the API are separate items, as is a Google Cloud retirement of a model that stays on the Gemini API. Not counted: image, video, audio, speech, embedding and moderation models; API features; third-party models the developer resells; earlier snapshots retired while the same model stays available; deprecations with no date; 'not sooner than' floors; retired aliases; and names that keep working by routing to a newer model with no stated retirement.
