9.6%
of TSMC's 3nm and 5nm chip wafers used by Nvidia's AI chips in Q4 2025; 12% by the four largest AI chip designers
What the chart shows
Epoch AI estimates how much of TSMC’s 3nm and 5nm chip wafers goes into the AI chips of the four largest designers. In Q4 2025 Nvidia’s chips used about 9.6%, Google’s 1.0%, AMD’s 0.3% and Amazon’s 0.9%: 12% together, against 5.6% in Q1 2024.
Logic wafers are the silicon the processors themselves are cut from; Epoch counts TSMC’s 3nm and 5nm wafers. Most of them still go to phones, computers and other products, so AI’s share here is far smaller than its share of packaging or memory.
Key numbers
| Measure | Value |
|---|---|
| Nvidia, Q4 2025 | 9.6% |
| Google, Q4 2025 | 1.0% |
| AMD, Q4 2025 | 0.3% |
| Amazon, Q4 2025 | 0.9% |
| Rest of supply, Q4 2025 | 88% |
| Four largest designers, Q4 2025 | 12% |
| Four largest designers, Q1 2024 | 5.6% |
How to read it
- Epoch AI’s median estimates, built from chip sales and each chip’s bill of materials; the uncertainty ranges are wide.
- Rest of supply is Epoch’s residual: untracked designers (such as Apple, Qualcomm or Chinese chipmakers), capacity not used, inventory and modelling error. Shares add up to 100% each quarter.
- The chart ends at the latest quarter Epoch has filled in.
