92%
share of symptom searches, and of common health questions, that returned an AI Overview; condition searches 84%
What the chart shows
Google’s AI-generated summaries, called AI Overviews, now sit above most health search results. In RAISE Health’s analysis, symptom searches such as ‘dementia symptoms’ and common health questions returned an AI Overview 92% of the time, and treatment searches 90%.
Searches for a condition by name were least likely to show one, at 84%, rising to 88% when phrased as a question (‘what is dementia?’). The AI Index notes that these summaries reach patients with less oversight than tools that go through regulators.

How to read it
- Share of sampled queries of each type for which Google displayed an AI Overview. The AI Index does not give the number of queries, the dates or the locations of the searches.
- Whether an AI Overview appears says nothing about its accuracy.
