What the chart shows

Baidu’s Apollo Go, one of the few Chinese robotaxi services to publish ridership figures, provided about 11 million fully driverless rides in 2025, by the AI Index’s estimate. That is up 175% on the 4 million of 2024.

Rides grew from 1.5 million in 2022 to 3 million in 2023 before the faster rise of 2024 and 2025. Comparable figures for European operators are not public, the AI Index notes.

  • The 2025 figure is an estimate; earlier years come from Baidu’s financial results.
